This spring and every planting season to come, you may rest assured for top profit and quality when you use the Insta-Gro Gold plant food complete program.
Potatoes are heavy tonnage
crop per acre, so they need available plant food through the entire growing
season, particularly at critical stages of growth. The programs
outlined below will give the potato grower the most bushels per acre for the
fertilizer dollar spent with a plus of high quality. As with any heavy
producing crop, a soil test is strongly suggested for potatoes.
Apply: 10 to 20 gallons of Insta-Gro 9-18-9-1 per acre below the seed at planting time according to yield desired.
For top quality potatoes plus high percentage of number ones, foliar feeding is a natural for the high producing potato crop.
First Spray: Apply 3 gallons of 9-18-9-1 per acre when the potato plant is very small (4" to 6" high). This is applied with ground sprayer; nozzle is directed over the row facing backward for the effect of a mist action.
Always bear in mind that a mist is many times more efficient than a coarse spray. This first application will assist in the number of tubers that are set.
Second Spray: 3 to 4 gallons of Insta-Gro 9-18-9-1 per acre at pre-bloom or just before last cultivating.
Third Spray: 14 to 20 days later. When potatoes are forming use 9-18-9-1 at the rate of 5 to 8 gallons per acre. To find the amount to apply, dig up one or two hills and heck the number of potatoes per hill - the more potatoes, the more plant food needed. The fourth spray is optional if high gravity test is required plus hastening maturity.
Fourth Spray: Apply 5 gallons of 3-18-18-1 per acre. Increase potassium will give the desired effect required. This program is giving the the potato grower an additional 20 to 30 % increase in yield plus higher quality.
NOTE: 3-18-18-1 may be substituted for 9-18-9-1 in the row of planting time if the grower requires more potassium. Plowed down potash should be applied according to the soil test. Nitrogen can be applied according to individual growers needs.
