This spring and every planting season to come, you may rest assured for top profit and quality when you use the Insta-Gro Gold plant food complete program.
Alfalfa - the King of
Forages
Due to the tonnage that can be taken off an acre, it is important that your
alfalfa fields have a proper diet of phosphorous, potash, sulphur, calcium
plus required trace elements.
The major factor is increasing yield on alfalfa revolves around fertility and a balanced soil.
It is of prime importance that a soil test be taken so one can evaluate the condition of the soil.
Insta-Gro has the products
plus the program for raising top yield and quality
Alfalfa.
Recommendations
Prior to spring growth, it is important to apply calcium, sulphur, and trace elements as needed.
In the spring as the crown of the alfalfa plant turns green, apply 4 to 5 gallons of Insta-Cal, 1 gallon of Insta-Sul and 4-5 gallons of 28% nitrogen. Then after cutting apply 5 to 6 gallons of 9-18-9 per acre.
The application of Insta-Gro to your alfalfa fields will increase the protein plus carotene and percent of TDN with higher tonnage per acre.
Note: Many growers
prefer the first application in the spring to be 9-18-9 especially in areas
where spring is wet and cold.
Calcium
Calcium and pH levels of your field are very important. Where calcium is
required, use 3 to 4 gallons of Insta-Cal per acre for fast results.
Sulphur
Alfalfa and pastures respond to sulphur where soil tests show a shortage.
Using 2 to 3 gallons per acre of Insta-Sul will bring your sulphur level
up.
Mixed Hay
If the mixture is over 65% clover or pasture use the Alfalfa Program.
Grass Pasture or Hay
Use 9-18-9 at a rate of 5 to 8 gallons per acre in early spring and again
in the fall as a winterizer.
Seed Raisers
When raising alfalfa, red clover, ladino, birds foot trefoil, etc. for seed
applying 5 to 6 gallons of 3-18-18 7 to 10 days before bloom will increase
seed set to help produce a top quality seed.
The requirement of trace elements will depend on the results of your soil
analysis. Your alfalfa crop should be closely monitored during the growing
season.
Applications can be done by custom application or by the customer. If the customer wishes to apply the product, Insta-Gro will work with the customer to make sure the proper equipment is being used or will work with the custom operator to make sure he is knowledgeable on the correct method of application. Alfalfa Program for 8 to 10 Ton Yield
Apply five gallons Insta-Cal
and five gallons Insta-Sul in late fall or early spring. Foliar feed ten
gallons 9-18-9 in spring after calcium and sulphur application, five gallons
9-18-9 after second cutting, five gallons after third cutting and five gallons
3-18-18 in fall after last cutting. Another application of three gallons
of Insta-Cal and three gallons Insta-Sul can be applied after third cutting
depending on soil test and to insure high yield and top quality alfalfa
that is insect free with high TDN. Soil tests are also important for trace
element recommendations.
Seeding Alfalfa
Apply five gallons Insta-Sul, five gallons Insta-Cal before seeding. Row feed ten gallons 9-18-9 with drill at planting time, then start foliar feeding five gallons 9-18-9 after each cutting as stated in the program above.
The Insta-Gro program for alfalfa keeps your alfalfa stand thick with fine stemmed big leaves which means high protein and high TDN. Insect free also means you don't have to re-seed as often. Farmers who feed alfalfa are pleased with increased milk production, higher butter fat, for healthier cows with a small veterinary bill.
